Tomoya Ohtani on Sonic Generations Original Soundtrack:
Rooftop Run
In Act2 (modern) of Rooftop Run (the stage name in Japan is Orange Roofs), which was popular in Sonic Unleashed, like Crisis City, I wanted to decide the arrangement like further expanding the direction of the original version and from the original that added the strings of the quartet formation to the fast-tempo and punkish rhythm section, I newly added the piano part and arranged with the formation of all 12 strings players as well as with the direction of enlivening the game more pop and dramatically for showing the fun atmosphere more cheerfully. The strings part was more polished up with Mr. Takahito Eguchi’s arrangement and with the meaning of music of the expressive action stage, I think it was completed as a very good arrangement. On the other hand, in Act1 (classic), the rolling and adorable Classic Sonic’s image and others changed completely in reference from modern’s band sound, and I altered the grooviness in dance beat as well as aimed at slight techno pop and seemingly enjoyably stimulating arrangement. I recorded the strings with the same formation as modern’s and because I also favor the arrangement for high speed use, I tried to put it in between. Modern and classic, whichever it is, they are personally my favorite arrangements.
